Theoretical and experimental work performed over four decades has shown how, based on open literature, to design PRT systems capable of serving a wide variety of needs. Over these four decades enormous advances have taken place in the computer art and in other components essential to PRT control, thus making it possible to build short-headway PRT systems that will be safe and reliable. A safety standard for PRT is recommended.
